U.S. Sen. David Vitter wants Florida Gov. Rick Scott to exercise another plan for the LSU-Florida game as Hurricane Matthew prepares to make landfall Friday night.
The game is still scheduled to be held at noon ET on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla. Matthew, a Category 4 hurricane, will likely cause flooding, damage and intense rainfall.
“Holding the UF-LSU football game in Gainesville this weekend jeopardizes the safety and well-being of the players, attending fans, coaching staffs, stadium employees, police, and emergency responders who will need to travel to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium,” Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, said in a news release.
