Longtime 'voice of LSU football' rescued from Baton Rouge flooding

Legendary LSU radio announcer Jim Hawthorne and his wife, Carol, were rescued from their Baton Rouge, La., home Sunday amid historic flooding in the area, the university's athletic department confirmed.

The rescue capped a frantic Sunday as LSU officials sought the public's help via social media in finding the couple, who were without cell phone service after torrential rains flooded their Baton Rouge neighborhood, leaving friends and family unable to contact them.

Former LSU radio voice Jim Hawthorne is currently missing coinciding with the Louisiana flood.
