Three years ago, Sporting News ran a list of drivers with the longest winless streaks, for whom futility was a piece of apparel that fit like a firesuit.
Among those drivers: Casey Mears, whose listed streak was 191. Mears' drought has now reached 302 races. His most recent victory was at Charlotte on May 27, 2007.

Unless he wins in the next month, Mears' winless streak will reach nine years.
"I don't like the stat that I have, the longest-running winless streak," Mears said in February at Daytona.
