The IAAF has banned Russian long jumper Darya Klishina from competing in the Rio Olympics, it announced Saturday.
Klishina, the only Russian track and field athlete allowed to participate the games, appealed her punishment immediately.
Reports from Russia indicated last week that new information from Richard McLaren’s WADA report led to the re-evaluation of Klishina’s case. She was initially given special permission to compete after Russian athletes were widely banned from the games in connection to the country’s Olympic doping scandal and breach of rules.
Klishina, 25, was the only Russian track athlete set to participate after she filed a personal application.
