American racing fans have been waiting for a Triple Crown since 1978, but the English have them beat. No horse has won the English Triple Crown for colts there since 1970.
The English Triple Crown predates the American version, going back all the way to 1853, when a horse named West Australian won all three races.
There will be no winner this year, either. This morning Golden Horn won the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Epsom Derby. The winner of the first leg, Gleneagles, did not even run.
A good part of the reason for the long drought is that the races are so different, few trainers want to even try a horse in all three.
