Lindsey Vonn crashed while training on Coronet Peak in New Zealand on Thursday and sustained an ankle fracture that forced her to fly back to the United States for treatment, the United States Ski Team said. Vonn first announced the injury on her social media accounts.
The injury may heal before Vonn’s racing season, which begins in earnest in early December, but it could limit her training in what is already considered the early ski racing season. Vonn had been in New Zealand with her United States Ski Team teammates since July 28 and was scheduled to train there until Sunday.
