'Life-defining' punch to Geno Smith's jaw hasn't changed QB

A year ago, Geno Smith was ready to lead the Jets at quarterback. Then, during training camp, IK Enemkpali punched Smith in the jaw and broke it.

The injury left Smith sidelined and opened the door for Ryan Fitzpatrick to start. The Jets played well under Fitzpatrick, and Smith was essentially forgotten. Even this year, when Fitzpatrick was in a contract dispute, Smith knew as soon as a deal was made he would go back to being the backup. The punch has altered the course of Smith's career, and on Tuesday, he reflected on the incident.

"It was a crazy situation, a life-defining moment," Smith said, via the New York Post.
