WASHINGTON — Tina Charles scored 17 of her 22 points in the third quarter, and the Liberty beat the Washington Mystics, 86-68, on Sunday to even their best-of-three Eastern Conference semifinal series at one game apiece.
“I just wasn’t satisfied the way I played the first half,” said Charles, who had 5 points before the break. “I thought I could have played smarter. Once I saw a couple of shots go in, I just got confidence and kept attacking.”
The teams will play a decisive Game 3 on Tuesday in New York.
Charles hit shots from all over the court in the third quarter, including a 3-pointer, and helped the Liberty extend their lead from 7 points at halftime to 18 by the end of the quarter.
