SEATTLE — Tina Charles scored a season-high 30 points Tuesday night to help the Liberty beat the Seattle Storm, 81-77, for their fourth straight victory.
The Liberty (11-5) are off to their best start since they were 16-5 in 2001. They lead the Chicago Sky by half a game atop the Eastern Conference.
Tanisha Wright added 12 points for the Liberty, including a fast-break layup with 36 seconds left for a 3-point lead. Swin Cash scored 6 points to move past Sheryl Swoopes for 14th place on the league’s career scoring list.
Sue Bird and Ramu Tokashiki scored 14 points apiece for Seattle (5-13), which lost to the Liberty for a fifth straight time.
