RIO DE JANEIRO — It is a little more than a 30-minute ride from the Main Press Center at Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca out to the Olympic Stadium, home of the track-and-field events here, in the working-class neighborhood called Engenho de Dentro. The neighborhood gives the stadium the name the locals call it, Engenhao, though its official name is Joao Havelange Olympic Stadium, after the former head of FIFA.

Joao Havelange was booted from FIFA in 2011 for — shockingly — taking bribes. Many wanted the name changed. But this is Brazil, and what’s wrong with a little bribery between friends?
