San Francisco (AFP) - A federal lawsuit filed Monday in San Francisco wants Major League Baseball to install protective netting down the baselines to protect spectators from hard-hit foul balls and broken bats.

The nationwide class action lawsuit filed in US District Court wants major league commissioner Rob Manfred to have the safety netting, typically used only directly behind home plate, extended between each foul pole to safeguard ticket buyers at all major league and developmental ballparks by the start of the 2016 season.
