Congress is getting involved in the NFL's reported intervention in a major study on CTE and its relation to football, ESPN reported Thursday.
According to ESPN, four members of Congress have asked the league for documents and information about why it became involved in Boston University's selection of the researcher to lead a major study on football and the degenerative brain disease, according to a letter sent Wednesday to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that was obtained by ESPN's "Outside the Lines."
"Efforts by outside entities to ... exercise influence over the selection of (National Institutes of Health) research applicants are troubling, and we are committed to a full understanding of the sequence of events that led to this dispute," the legislators wrote.
