There was the significant bump in the latest FIFA ranking, which has the U.S. in 10th, as high as it's been since 2006 (yet still one place behind Mexico, due to the machinations of the ranking formula). That could come in handy come World Cup draw time (not to mention for U.S. players seeking moves to the U.K. due to work permit rules), although if there's anything the U.
