Most people wait until after retirement or until their grandchildren are all grown up before moving to Boca Raton, Florida, but my family got a head start. I was in third grade when we did what many New Yorkers do: Relocate to the Sunshine State.
Boca Raton is a sleepy town, just a short drive from Miami and West Palm Beach. To this day, when I tell people I grew up Boca and graduated from Florida Atlantic University, the typical response is “Oh, my grandparents live there” or “my Bubbie lives there.” It is not exactly a hotbed of action.
