After five years, three MLS Cup titles and an MVP trophy, Robbie Keane is departing the LA Galaxy.
The club confirmed Thursday that the Irish striker will leave the Galaxy upon the expiration of his contract at year's end. Keane, 36, seemingly has no plans to depart MLS, saying earlier this month that he'll "100 percent be playing in the league" next season.
Keane's exit marks the end of a prolific five-year stint following his 2011 arrival from Tottenham. Making 125 regular season appearances, Keane recorded 83 goals and 45 assists. Appearing in 21 playoff matches, the former Ireland captain added another nine goals and six assists as the Galaxy won the MLS Cup in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
