When Kyle Larson burst onto the NASCAR scene as a 21-year-old driver, he was supposed to be the next big thing, the best young driver since Jeff Gordon.
An immensely talented sprint-car driver, Larson quickly drew comparisons to his childhood hero and was expected to become a star as quickly as Gordon and Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson, all Cup champions, rose to stardom.
It hasn't happened.
