In a long line of great Kickapoo girls basketball players, Mikayla Pilley became the latest.
Competing for championships is demanded when you put on a Lady Chiefs uniform. The tradition of winning has been passed down from the great leaders who walk the Kickapoo halls since Sue Schuble led the program to its first of six state championships in 1985.
Names like Molly Carter, Heather Ezrell, and Bella Fontleroy continue to resonate today. Years from now, Pilley's will, too.
It's why we're proud to name her as the News-Leader's 2025 Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
