Kevin Anderson’s long-awaited Grand Slam breakthrough to the quarterfinals of the United States Open came at a price: $400.
That was the cost of change fees that Anderson’s wife, Kelsey, happily paid for the return airline trips of Anderson’s coach, Neville Godwin, and his physical trainer, Florian Zitzelsberger. As she always does, she booked tickets home for quarterfinal day. If Anderson wins his match Wednesday against fifth-seeded Stan Wawrinka, whom he has beaten in their last four matches, the flights will need to be changed again.
“It’s an added expense, but it would be a good problem to have,” said Kelsey, an accountant who serves as her husband’s manager and travel companion.
