KAZAN, Russia — Katie Ledecky raced to a victory on Saturday in the 800-meter freestyle, becoming the first swimmer to have swept the 200, 400, 800 and 1,500 freestyle races in a major international competition.
By the lofty standards she had established here, Ledecky’s latest victory was routine: another 16 laps, another world record for Ledecky, who now owns the top six times in the history of the women’s 800. It was her third world-record swim of the meet and her 10th since 2013.
Ledecky’s time of 8 minutes, 7.39 seconds broke the old mark of 8:11.
