PHILADELPHIA — Kasson-Mantorville graduate and University of Iowa wrestler Patrick Kennedy is an All-American.
Through a black right eye that seemed partially shut, the four-time MSHSL state champion placed fourth at 174 pounds at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
Kennedy defeated South Dakota State University's Cade DeVos by a 4-1 sudden victory in Saturday's consolation semifinal to punch his ticket to the third place match. That's where the No. 11 seeded Kennedy fell to No. 2 seeded Levi Haines of Penn State by an 11-3 major decision.
The fourth place finish is the first podium in three trips at the NCAA's for Kennedy.
