NEW YORK — Judge Richard M. Berman posed direct questions to the NFL and NFL Players Association in a Deflategate settlement conference, with more private talks aimed at achieving a resolution scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The settlement conference, involving New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's appeal of a four-game suspension for his role in the alleged underinflation of footballs before last season's AFC Championship Game, lasted two hours and 19 minutes at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Berman stressed to both parties that settlement conversations taking place behind closed doors "as always, are to remain private.
