LAS VEGAS (AP) — Josh Pastner was named UNLV coach Tuesday, the latest to try to turn around a college basketball program that has gone from one of the nation's best to one that is largely irrelevant.
The Rebels have not made the NCAA Tournament since 2013 and have not advanced to at least the Sweet 16 since 2007. It's quite a fall for a program that won the 1990 national championship.
“This has always been a dream job for me, and I fully recognize the significance of UNLV in the landscape of college basketball,” Pastner said in a statement.
