Late Marlins ace Jose Fernandez was named the 2016 National League Comeback Player of the Year as part of the 25th annual Players Choice Awards.
Fernandez, killed in a boating accident Sept. 25 with two friends, was posthumously honored in a vote by fellow players. The award was announced Wednesday night by the MLB Players Association. The two-time All-Star was 24 at the time of his death.

Sporting News named Fernandez its NL Comeback Player of the Year in October. Players also voted for that award.
