Jordan Morris wins Goal USA's 2016 Rookie of the Year award

Very few MLS homegrown player signing announcements generate much attention. Jordan Morris was different.

That’s what happens when a player becomes the first collegiate athlete to represent the U.S. national team in decades, then earns a contract offer from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen after a successful trial.

Thankfully for Seattle Sounders fans, and supporters of MLS on the whole, Morris opted to turn down a move to Germany in favor of signing with his hometown club.

His first season in MLS hasn’t been perfect by any means, but Morris has successfully shouldered massive expectations and become an integral part of a Sounders side that pulled off a stunning midseason turnaround to make the playoffs.
