John Scott is back in the NHL three months after his controversial trade and subsequent minor-league demotion.
The Montreal Canadiens recalled the popular journeyman enforcer Sunday from their AHL affiliate, the St. John's Ice Caps, where he'd been playing since being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in a midseason trade reportedly orchestrated by the NHL to keep Scott from playing in the All-Star Game.

Scott, who's amassed 542 penalty minutes in 285 career NHL games, appeared in 27 games with the Ice Caps, scoring two goals with two assists.
