Legendary NFL announcer and coach John Madden was released from a San Francisco hospital Wednesday after undergoing successful open-heart surgery.
In a statement released by the NFL, it was revealed that the Pro Football Hall of Famer is expected to make a full recovery.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent well wishes in Madden's direction as part of the statement as well:
I spoke to John yesterday. He sounds great, but is frustrated about being on injured reserve for the time being. He is anxious to return to action soon doing the important work he does for our game.
