Joey Gallo becomes latest MLB star to test positive for coronavirus

MLB knew trying to restart during a pandemic was going to be difficult. As the league prepares to begin the regular season in July, players are being tested for coronavirus as they report to camp.

That process hasn’t gone smoothly. MLB has already struggled with the rollout of the tests, as some teams have waited days to receive test results. On top of that, a number of star players, including Freddie Freeman, Salvador Perez and Miguel Sanó have produced positive coronavirus tests.

The latest in that group came Monday, as Texas Rangers slugger Joey Gallo tested positive for coronavirus.
