Three of them got there in an unconventional manner. How? By making the decision to run at the back of the field, out of the main pack, throughout Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway.
It’s certainly not a new strategy at this restrictor-plate track, but it is one that has drawn a lot of scrutiny throughout the NASCAR community.
Entering the race, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards were second through fourth, respectively, in the Chase standings.
