Kevin Harvick is accustomed to catching drivers late in races, looming on their bumper, skirting around them and then pulling away at will to steal a win at the last minute.

After the Coca-Cola 600, they applauded another driver who was able to do just that to the field. Sunday night, neither had a chance to work his magic. Instead, they were left to challenge only in the final segment of the race, but more often simply to follow in the tire tracks of Martin Truex Jr.
