BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Jimmie Johnson will go to a backup car for Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway (2 p.m. ET, FS1).
Johnson spun in the late stages of Saturday morning's second practice session, causing damage to the front-end of his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet after hitting the infield grass with the splitter.
"I got loose into Turn 3 and fought it for a long time and unfortunately came around," Johnson said. "Did a nice job of keeping it off the outside wall, but came back down the hill and into the grass and the front end dug in pretty good.
