Jim Brown once wanted to fight Muhammad Ali, and it was a very dumb idea

As family, friends and fans of Muhammad Ali prepare to lay the iconic fighter and humanitarian to rest Friday, we continue to remember why Ali truly was "The Greatest." He inspired others with his work in the ring, touched even more with his life outside of it and gave us some incredible stories.

One such story came from a 2012 Sports Illustrated profile of boxing promoter Bob Arum. Legendary Browns running back Jim Brown, who introduced Arum to Ali, had retired after the 1965 season and was pursuing a career in acting. Ali was the heavyweight champion in the prime of his career.
