It’s a clash of the true stars, men who helped shape the sport with both their success and their personalities. Between them, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart have seven championships. They’ve shared memories and showdowns, and someday will both have spots in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
On Sunday, though, they meet on the track for the expected final time. Both start in the top 10 in today’s Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Stewart has already announced that he is retiring from Cup racing at the end of this season; Gordon retired from his full-time role last year but has returned in relief of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
