UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Jason Day of Australia collapsed, apparently from a dizzy spell, while playing his final hole during the second round of the United States Open on Friday. After several minutes lying on the grass near the green at No. 9, Day was helped to his feet and finished the hole, which he bogeyed, to complete his round.
Day has suffered from vertigo for nearly a year and withdrew from the W.G.C.-Bridgestone Invitational in August last year because of dizziness. Since then, Day has gone through a series of medical tests, including blood tests and magnetic resonance imaging exams of his head and neck, to help doctors diagnose his condition.
