Jarryd Hayne's Olympic dreams die with omission from Fiji's rugby sevens squad

Jarryd Hayne's Olympic dream is over after the code hopper was passed over in selection for the upcoming Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Hayne had been pining to represent Fiji in rugby sevens in August, having walked away from his brief stint with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers in May. But the 28-year-old, who at the time of his retirement cited a desire to compete in the Olympics as a reason for returning to his native sport, will not realize his goal of competing at the Olympics after meeting with Fiji coach Ben Ryan last week.

"Last Friday I had a meeting with Ben to discuss my future with the team and I was informed that my time has ended.
