One year after a horrific crash left him on a ventilation machine, James Hinchcliffe could complete a phenomenal story by winning Sunay's 100th edition of the Indianapolis 500.
Hinchcliffe's car slammed into a wall during a practice session ahead of last year's race. A piece of debris pierced his leg as the wreck swerved across the track. As rescue workers struggled to free him, it was possible Hinchcliffe could have bled out and died.
His injuries left Hinchcliffe in a hospital, fighting for his life.
However, Hinchcliffe returned to racing in March, never in doubt that he wanted to continue as quickly as possible.
