Jackie Bradley Jr. extends hitting streak to 29; other Red Sox chase history, too

BOSTON — Jackie Bradley Jr. is more than halfway to Joe DiMaggio, and five games away from Dom DiMaggio.

The Red Sox center fielder extended his hitting streak to 29 games with a fourth-inning single off Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis on Wednesday night, moving one step closer to history. Joe DiMaggio owns the major league record with a 56-game streak in 1941, while his brother Dom hit in 34 consecutive games for Boston in 1949.

Bradley, who came around to score on a triple by Blake Swihart, was last held hitless on April 23 at Houston, when he went 0 for 4.
