The IOC has announced 31 athletes from six sports could be banned from competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after 454 doping samples from the 2008 Games in Beijing were retested.
The athletes concerned come from 12 different countries whose National Olympic Committees are due to be informed in the coming days.

Re-tests were conducted following work between the IOC and WADA, with the focus on athletes who could start at the 2016 Games, which begin on August 5.
