Dixon’s crash came on Lap 53 when, after contact with Jay Howard, his No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda went airborne and landed on the inside SAFER barrier, ripping the rear of the car off.
Dixon was checked, cleared and released from the infield care center but started to limp so returned to get a walking boot fitted. He later posted a photo to Twitter letting his followers know that despite the “wild ride,” he’s ready to move “onto the Championship” as IndyCar races at Detroit this weekend.
Meanwhile, Lazier was involved in a single-car wreck coming off of Turn 2 later in the race.
