New York (AFP) - Washington Redskins running back Silas Redd was suspended four games by the National Football League on Wednesday for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Redd is on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending injury in Washington's first pre-season exhibition game of the season last August, tearing right knee ligaments against the Cleveland Browns.
So while he would not have played anyway, the ban means he will not collect the four game paychecks he would have under his $600,000 contract, costing him $140,000.
