N.F.L. Is Taught A Lesson

Re “N.F.L.’s Leader Finds Authority Is Not Absolute,” Sept. 4:
It is time that the N.F.L. learns that it is not above the law — particularly labor law. I agree that Tom Brady’s conduct may have been dubious. Nevertheless, there are procedures embodied in well-established arbitration rules that must be respected. N.F.L. management must learn that a labor agreement is not a piece of paper — it is a binding code of conduct. It is time that Commissioner Roger Goodell stops flouting arbitration processes that he is legally bound to uphold.
