How the Dodgers Won Game 1 of the World Series, Inning by Inning

The days of people writing off Clayton Kershaw as merely a dominant regular season pitcher are officially over. The ace of the Los Angeles Dodgers struck out 11 batters in a classic performance, giving his team a 1-0 lead in the 2017 World Series with a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.

In an on-field interview after the game, Kershaw said he made a case for himself to stay in the game after the seventh inning, but relented when Manager Dave Roberts said he preferred to make a change.

“With our bullpen it doesn’t matter,” Kershaw said.
