Tiger Woods posted an opening-round 66 at the Greenbrier Classic on Thursday. It was his lowest round on the PGA Tour in over a year. Not insignificant is that it comes after his disastrous U.S. Open performance.
Tiger is back!
Tiger isn’t back. Stop that. It isn’t healthy for anyone.
His performance on Thursday means that there will be similar expectations for Friday, and beyond that, it means little more. Though these rounds at the Greenbrier mean very little alone, together, they could be building to something greater. Not greatness, per se, just something greater.
Tiger Woods is 39-years-old, his body is breaking down on him in ways that force him to readjust his mechanics and technique on a continuous cycle.
