Los Angeles (AFP) - Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, the NBA team said.
The Hornets called Tuesday's operation a success, with the 22-year-old player expected to be sidelined for some six months.
That timeline could see him ready to return at the end of the NBA regular season.
Kidd-Gilchrist was hurt late in the second quarter of the Hornets' pre-season game at Orlando on Saturday.
