Herb Sendek, who coached teams to NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last three jobs, is in the final stages of negotiations to accept the head coaching position at Santa Clara, Sporting News has learned.
Sendek will take over for Kerry Keating, who was let go after nine seasons and a 114-121 record.

Sendek last coached at Arizona State, where he recruited All-American James Harden and reached the NCAAs in 2009. That was two tournament appearances he made in his seven years with the Sun Devils.
