Between the departure of Dwyane Wade to Chicago and the uncertain health status of Chris Bosh, it hasn’t been a banner offseason for the Miami Heat. Upon Wade’s decision to sign with the Bulls, Heat president Pat Riley acknowledged as much in a text message to the Miami Herald.
“Bad, bad summer for us,” Riley texted.
On Thursday, team owner Micky Arison tried to soften the blow and reassure fans that the Heat remain a ‘Championship organization’.
In an open letter to fans, Arison thanked them for 21 years of support and 294 consecutive sellouts — the longest such streak in franchise history and the second longest current streak in the NBA.
