Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew was scheduled to undergo a heart transplant Thursday, ending a months-long wait for a suitable donor.
Carew told KCAL on Wednesday night that he and his wife Rhonda were headed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after getting the call he has awaited since being told more than a year ago he needed a transplant.
