The Rangers have lost one of their legends.
The club announced Friday that Hall of Fame winger Andy Bathgate had died at age 83. Bathgate began his career with the Blueshirts in 1952 and spent parts of 12 seasons with the club, compiling 729 points (272 goals, 457 assists) in 719 games.

"Andy set the bar for what it means to be a Ranger," former Rangers star Rod Gilbert said in a prepared statment. "He was a true innovator of the game and my idol. As a young player, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to play with him and learn from him.
