A group of former NFL players has requested through its attorneys a rehearing of its appeal of the concussion settlement with the league that was upheld by a three-judge panel of Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
The appeals-court panel last week overwhelmingly affirmed a March 2015 district court ruling that accepted the settlement between the league and approximately 5,000 former players who filed concussion-related lawsuits.

Some 20,000 retired NFL players are covered by the settlement that could cost the league more than $1 billion.
