Grizzlies to wear special MLK uniforms next January

The Grizzlies won't get to play on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this season, but that doesn't mean they won't honor the civil rights champion and American icon.

Memphis will wear special MLK 50 Pride uniforms to honor King prior to the holiday, the team announced Wednesday.

"We’re deeply honored to work with our longstanding partners at the National Civil Rights Museum to help them launch the commemorations building towards the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination," Grizzlies president of business operations Jason Wexler said in the team's statement.

"The MLK50 Pride uniform to be worn for the first time on January 15th during our annual weekend Martin Luther King Jr.
