Gennady Golovkin was expected to fight Mexico's Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 17 for the undisputed middleweight boxing championship.
Alvarez, after his win over Amir Khan in May and with Golovkin in the ring, said they would fight. Well, Alvarez made a U-turn and agreed to fight Golovkin next September.
Golovkin wants to fight top contenders and hold all the titles at 160 pounds, so he tried to make a fight with WBO middleweight champ Billie Joe Saunders. Saunders either priced himself out of the bout or — like other boxers Golovkin wanted to face — got scared and didn't want to fight.
